9-to-5 Dan

Work has been really busy lately, to the point where I actually have to take a lunch break instead of just recording a random 30 minute chunk of time after the fact. The constant proofreading work is much more satisfying than getting paid to surf the web. Also: exhausting.

They're renovating the room next to ours, and the three hours of jackhammering alone should suffice to explain why I'm making mint chip ice cream tonight. I'm taking my little screwdriver to work with me tomorrow, as I can't risk an iPod breakdown with all that noise in the background.

I also thought long and hard about a happy hour, but I'm too hungry right after work and no one answered my calls tonight. Which is probably for the best, because that ice cream was a much longer project than anticipated. And it may not have even formed a custard. Who knows. I don't understand custard.

Ahh, little Dan finally enters the real world...How are you buddy? Columbus still calls to you every night you know. Also, making your own ice-cream is a pain in the ass, just buy some.

Eh. But you're right on every point, Jubb.

Aren't ice cream and custard two different things? Not that I know anything about either one.

Philadelphia Style Ice Cream, which doesn't have eggs, is common in America, but most ice cream recipe books are big on custard-style ice cream. It's got a richer taste, but it requires that you use eggs and improvise a double boiler. Jubb's right that it's probably more trouble than it's worth.
